Vrindavan Solanki
Born in 1942 in Junaghad, Gujrat he completed his Diploma in Painting and POst Diploma in Graphics from MS University Vadodara in 1980 and 82 respectively.
Amongst the other awards, he has received First Prize from Gujrat Lalit Kala Academy in 1966,67,87 and Gold Medal from the Art Society of India, Mumbai in 1970,72,74,78.
He has shown his works in Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahemdabad, Chennai, Vadodara, Banglore, Chandigarh, New York, London, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and Pakistan.
Solanki has arrived at a decisive new platform - in figure, form and color. His artistic journey has always been, in a certain sense, a pilgrims progress and he acknowledges his fellow travellers in a novel way. Each visually entrancing prospect of a Mumbaikar encountered - from dabbawala to patiwala - is set in earthy tones and together they present a microcosm of Mumbai.
